The crisis created by the ‘Amalanga Awafani’ single continues to deepen as Samthing Soweto has just fired shots at DJ Maphorisa, revealing he wasn’t among those who produced his album.
In a tweet sent in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, the songwriter and vocalist revealed that he had to lie about DJ Maphorisa been the brain behind most of his tracks in order to appeal to his fans.
‘@DjMaphorisa shouldn’t lie the way he does, it’s gonna get him into trouble one day. I paid Phori for my Masters. I paid an amount that he asked for at the time. Further more, I lied about Phori’s contributions on to my project, He didn’t produce anything. I lied cos I believed it would help my album sell. The truth is, I had very little confidence in my music selling without him as producer. Seemed as if you, my audience loved the idea of him being a super producer and I was not going to go against that. So I lied.’ Samthing Soweto tweeted.
The singer further stated that Kabza De Small, Howard and Mas MusiQ were the brains behind most of his hit productions and not DJ Maphorisa whose name only appears on featured list for the sake of it.
So again, he didn’t produce my work. I worked with @mas_musiq and Howard n @KabzaDeSmall_ in that studio, who produced between 40 -60% of my work depending on how you view it.

Complaining how he’s been disregarded by the veteran producer, Samthing Soweto also revealed that his works were releases without his knowledge and when he demanded an explanation, DJ Maphorisa gives him the silent treatment.
